Music and Dance (MAD) comprises modern dance, street dance and chinese dance. While having 3 divisions, MAD is a unity of individuals passionate about dance and the performing arts. Our modern division is led by Mr Dan Kwoh, an award winning choreographer who specializes in contemporary dance; our street division trains under An An, a resident choreographer and hip hop instructor from the renowned dance company, O School; our chinese division has been under the guidance of Ms Xiao Jing, an accomplished dancer and choreographer and has produced outstanding results.

MAD kick started 2017 with the Chinese and Modern Divisions participating in the biennial Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) and both divisions proudly clinched a Certificate of Distinction. Additionally, the hosting of Dougie-Off by the Street Division has helped in reaffirming MAD’s support for our partner beneficiary, Pertapis Children’s Home.

2017 has been an exciting year of growth for the dancers in MAD. MAD performed multiple self-choreographed items at events such as Asean School Games Closing Ceremony, Open House, Teacher's Day, National Day, Dr Hon’s Farewell, Faculty Outings, Chinese New Year celebrations and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations. In addition, dancers also get the opportunity to participate in dance camps such as the combined MAD camp 2017, whereby the dancers were exposed to different styles such as Waacking and Improvisation. Furthermore, each division had their own camp filled with a range of exciting activities, allowing for our members to have fulfilling experiences and interact with dancers from all walks of life.

2018 will be even more exhilarating with the celebration of MAD’s 10th Dance Night, to be held at Kallang Theatre, as well as many more anticipated performances.

For 2018 J1s with a burning passion for dance, MAD might just be the right place for you! Look out for our CCA Exhibitions booths and sign up for our auditions. We look forward to having you with us on another exciting year ahead!
