The Humanities and Current Affairs Society (HACAS) organises a range of exciting educational activities, aimed at increasing our members’ knowledge and cultivating their passion in these subject areas. Activities include talks by external speakers, dialogue sessions, quizzes, gameshows, seminars with distinguished academics, as well as external and self-organised field trips like the Ground-Up Initiative. These activities are jointly planned and organised by the four wings—History, Current Affairs, Model United Nations (MUN) and Geography.
In addition, members and interested students will also have the chance to participate in various prestigious and intellectually stimulating competitions such as MUNs (eg. Middle Eastern Summit, Nanyang Technological University Model United Nations and Singapore Model United Nations), Chancellor’s Challenge Shield (Current Affairs), International History Bee and Bowl, International History Olympiad and The Young Mayor Competition (Geography).
Members will also have various leadership opportunities in our landmark events like One Day Without Shoes (ODWS), a large-scale fundraising event where students are allowed to walk barefoot around campus, and the annual Hwa Chong Conflict Resolution Inquiry (HCCRI), a premier MUN conference in Singapore.
Regards,
HACAS ExCo 17/18
