What is the best word to describe rioHC? Family.

Bounded by our love for choral singing and music making, our sound is unique, commonly
described as ‘warm’ and ‘sincere’.

An established Performing Arts CCA, the choir has garnered accolades both locally and abroad.
These include consecutive Gold with Honours awards at the biennial SYF Central Judging of
Choirs and consecutive Certificates of Distinction in the SYF Arts Presentation, Champion of the
5th World Choir Games (Mixed Choirs) in Austria and Absolute Winner of the Festival of Songs
(Czech Republic). Most recently, the Hwa Chong-Nanyang Choir also obtained 3 Gold Awards
in 3 separate categories (Mixed Youths Choirs, Youth Choirs of Equal Voices and Musica
Sacra) of the 8th World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia.

The choir contributes significantly to the vibrant cultural scene in Hwa Chong, performing in
various events on campus throughout the year. In 2017, the choir also represented Singapore
by performing at the Closing Ceremony of the 9th ASEAN Schools Games.

Come 2018, the choir will continue celebrating Chinese New Year and National Day with the
school, amidst preparation for other events.

Under the baton of one of Singapore’s most distinguished choral directors, Ms Lim Ai Hooi, the
choir performs an elaborate repertoire of songs spanning over various languages, cultures, and
styles. In fact, Ms Lim was awarded “The Best Conductor for Training Youth Choirs” at the
International Christmas and Advent Choral Competition in Prague, Czech Republic in December
2002. She is an exp
erienced choral instructor, respected and admired for her passion in choral
music and dedication to student character development, and loved for her sincerity.
Join us; sing with a family.
