Chinese Society is one of Hwa Chong's most recognisable CCAs with a long-standing
history. Currently in its 43rd year, Chinese Society provides a platform for students who are
keen to pursue their passion in the Chinese language and culture. Comprising three wings
under the ambit of the Chinese Society, we have our drama wing (黄成夜韵), our debate
wing (创贤) and our song-writing wing (未央). Our working year is filled with a wide range
of activities that caters to members with a variety of interests.

黄城夜韵 (An Evening of Drama), the annual production of our drama wing dating back to
1982, is the hallmark of student-directed theatrical plays in Singapore. A flagship event in the annual school calendar, we perform at professional theatres such as Victoria Theatre and
NUS University Cultural Centre. Every year, our near 100-man strong team toil hard to
present entertaining yet thought-provoking plays to the school and public. With 12 groups of varying responsibilities (行政，导督，司仪，演员，道具，灯光，音响，服装，化妆，宣传，票务，摄影), this is your chance to experience being an invaluable part of a magical theatre journey.

创贤, our debate wing, deepens your interest for Chinese debate. This is the best place to
hone your skills and learn from fellow debate enthusiasts. Rare opportunities are given for
you to participate in local and international competitions such as the Asian High School
Chinese Debate Championship. Furthermore, we organise an inter-faculty competition yearly
to spread to love and culture for Chinese debate in Hwa Chong. We are a cohesive unit that
form strong bonds while pursuing our passion together.

未央 (词曲创作), immerses you in the world of Chinese singing and song writing. Everyone
here are all little Jay Chous and JJ Lins. Focusing on music theory and composition, our
Weyoung members are guided by professional teachers, developing our passion for song
writing. As our members publish a self-produced album and hold a concert on alternate years,we are exposed to a wide range of opportunities and events. What’s cooler than serenading your loved ones with your self-composed song, right?
